FANZINE CREATED IN COLLABORATION WITH INCARCERATED WOMEN AT THE SANTA MARTHA ACATITLA PRISON IN MEXICO CITY
Crossed Limits, Respected Limits is the third edition of Fanzine Martha, published by Habitajes A.C. For this issue, I worked closely with incarcerated women at the Santa Martha Acatitla Women's Social Rehabilitation Center. Through this project, I guided participants in recognizing the signals their bodies send to help them establish personal boundaries, exploring the body as a compass for self-awareness. Using photography and pedagogical tools, the women were able to express themselves and share their experiences.
The fanzines were distributed in the borough of Iztapalapa, where many of the participants come from—an area with some of the highest crime rates in Mexico City. This initiative aimed to build connections between incarcerated women and the Iztapalapa community, fostering dialogue and contributing to crime prevention and legal reintegration efforts.
